Here are a few parts being made for a hand built exhaust system for a 30's classic convertible. The tail pipe is flat for clearance around the rear axle. The Design is drawn up on Scaled Lay out paper and transfered to the pieces for bending. The flat sheet is bent at the edges with a hand brake to form the sides of the tube, then shrunk with a manual hand shrinker to curve it to the desired shape. After the top and bottom pieces match, they are air hammered to make them nice and smooth. They are finally trimed to fit together and Tig welded up tight.
This is the finished piece along with a 3ft. straight tail pipe.
